From June 5-8, producers of sports movies and television shows from seven countries will be in Hanoi to participate in the 4th Hanoi International FICTS Festival.
The event, organised by the International Federation for Sports TV and Movies or FICTs, is a chance for participating countries to introduce valuable sports TV programmes and movies and to exchange experiences.
All sports TV shows and movies produced from 2005-2008 (since 2003 for documentary films) will compete in the following categories: documentary, feature, scientific and educational, sport games, sport shows, reportage, advertising and cartoons.
Australia, China, Singapore, Romania, Bangladesh, Iran, and host Vietnam have submitted 72 works to the festival. The jury will include international delegates appointed by FICTS. Winning works will be sent to the 26th Sport Movies & TV 2007 in Milan, Italy this year.
Among Vietnam’s works, there is only one feature film produced by the Liberation Studio, named “The Punch”. According to organisers, it is more difficult to make feature films about sports and sport movies are often less attractive to audiences.
Without sponsors, this year’s festival bonus will be less than last year, with VND10 million for the first prize winners, VND7 million for second place, VND5 million for third place and VND3 million for consolation prizes. The total prize value is VND200 million.
Vietnam took part in the International FICTS Sport TV and Movie Festival in Milan and won the golden prize in 2001-2002.
