Vietnam water puppetry to be performed in Europe
This autumn, a delegation of artists from Vietnam Puppetry will go for a tour in three European countries, including Finland where people do not know much about water puppetry.
According to Finland Ambassador in Vietnam Pekka Hyvonen, Vietnam and Finland only promote mutual relationship in economic field. Since 2000, the two sides have had cultural exchanges.
During a recent visit to Vietnam, Finnish President emphasized that only cultural relation can help the two sides understand more about each others. In Finland, puppetry arts is popular, but water puppetry is not although there were 200,000 lakes. The Vietnamese tour to Finland is expected a cultural event in the near future.
As scheduled, Vietnam water puppetry delegation will include fifteen members to perform at Finland’s Esppo city cultural center from August 29th to September 2nd. In addition, 11 Vietnamese puppetry artists will come here to have a professional exchange from August 25th to October 10th.
Before going to Finland, the delegation will perform in Hungary from July 20th to August 15th and Norway until August 26th.
Puppetry artists from Finland will also go for a tour to Vietnam in November 2009.
