Four young wind instrument musicians will perform a concert next Wednesday at the Hcm city Music Conservatory, accompanied by the city’s symphony orchestra (HBSO).
Oboist Do Kien Cuong, clarinetist Nguyen Tuan Loc, French hornist Hoang Ngoc Long and bassoonist Luong Thang Long will perform a number of classical works, including the overture from Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E flat major, K.297b.
Cuong completed his music studies at Brooklyn University while French hornist Long studied at Russia’s Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory.
Loc and Long graduated from the Ha noi Music Conservatory, and both now teach at the Hcm city Conservatory. All of the musicians are members of HCM City’s orchestra.
The evening will open with the orchestra playing the famous Carnival Overture, Op 92 by Dvorak.
One of the show’s highlights will be Schubert’s Symphony No9 in C major, also known as "The Great".
"We hope the solo performances with the orchestra will bring a new passion to the audience," said HBSO orchestra conductor Tran Vuong Thach.
The show will begin at 8pm on Wednesday at the Music Conservatory’s concert hall, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
Tickets, ranging from VND60,000 (US$3.7) to VND150,000 ($9.3), are available at the conservatory’s box office.
