Binh Dinh Holds Festive Activities to Honor Tay Son Victory

A fair is being held in the central city of Quy nhon until August 3. This is one of the activities in celebration of the Tay Son-Binh Dinh Festival 2008 over Aug. 1-3.


The fair will include 400 booths sponsored by companies both in and outside of Binh Dinh Province. 
 
An exhibit section entitled “Vietnamese Traditional Trade Village Association” displays items made in over 50 villages.
 
The villages also give performances in making Bau Da rice liquor, making conical hats, weaving brocade fabrics, inlaying with mother-of-pearl, lathing wood, and making traditional cakes.
 
In other news, the Tay Son-Binh Dinh Festival will take place Aug. 1-3 and mark the anniversary the occupation of Quy nhon citadel by Tay Son insurgents in 1773. This will review the process of Viet Nam’s unification under the Tay Son dynasty.
 
At the opening ceremony on the morning of Aug. 1, incense will be offered at Tay Son Tam Kiet Shrine. This will be followed by an artistic program and by the second International Festival of Viet Nam’s Martial Arts.
 
On the second night, a festival featuring garlands and colored lanterns will take place in Thi Nai lagoon. At the closing ceremony on Aug. 3, a “Miss of the martial arts land” will be crowned.
